8 hours through Khor Ash Sham's fjords on a wooden dhow

You'll board a traditional wooden dhow at Khasab Marina around 8am and head straight into Khor Ash Sham, the main fjord. The water here is this incredible shade of turquoise-green, and the limestone cliffs drop straight down on either side. Around the halfway point is where the dolphins usually show up — pod of 20-30 spinner dolphins that often ride the bow wake. You'll get two snorkeling stops, roughly 45 minutes each, at coral reefs where the visibility is usually 10-15 meters. Lunch is chicken biryani with fresh fruit, dates, and Omani tea — not fancy, but it hits different when you're floating in a fjord. You'll also stop at Telegraph Island, where the British laid an undersea cable in the 1860s. It's a quick swim and a bit of history.
