2,087m up on a bumpy 4x4 track to Musandam's highest point

Jebel Harim sits at 2,087 meters, and getting there is half the experience. The track is unpaved, winding, and bumpy — your driver will know every switchback, but it's not for anyone who gets car-sick easily. Along the way you'll pass Shihuh villages built into the cliffsides, some still occupied, and rock faces full of 250-million-year-old fossils (the guide will point out the trilobites). At the summit on a clear day, you can literally see Iran across the Strait of Hormuz — it's maybe 50 km away. The descent takes a different route through wadis and past terraced farms. Not a relaxing drive, but that's kind of the point.
